Graduates

Graduates must select residency programs at military hospitals, and often enter programs at the hospitals where they performed clerkships. Historically, over eighty percent of students receive their first choice residency. Residencies vary in length, depending on the medical specialty. The residency period does not fulfill the seven-year commitment involved in attending USU. The military branch in which a graduate will serve is determined when he or she enters the School of Medicine and reflects both the student's preference and the needs of the organization. All graduating students are guaranteed internship training.
