Students also praise "phenomenal advisors," especially for pre-health students, "great study abroad programs," and other specific schools and programs such as the business school, the honors program, and Raikes School of Computer Science and Management. The main goal of UNL’s Career Service Center is to facilitate connections between students and the professional world, with undergrads noting the abundance of “opportunities for internships and other pre-employment experiences." Activities are described as "really helpful with job placement," and include things like targeted career fairs that bring in local businesses to talk to students. Students also have the chance to “go out and explore in the real world [by] job shadowing professionals.” The Career Service Center’s services are anything but one-size-fits-all — UNL has multiple affinity programs that specialize in advocating for and supporting women, students of color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, students with disabilities, and more during their career prep. Tuition, Room, Board and Fees
Tuition rates at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln vary for in-state and out-of-state students, as it is a public university. Annual estimated costs are based on an undergraduate student enrolled in 15 hours per semester for two semesters residing in a standard double room within a campus residence hall, with the meal plan. Courses within the Colleges of Business, College of Architecture and College of Engineering have differential tuition rates. Discounted tuition is available for specific populations. Financial Aid
Students should submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form. Priority filing deadline is May 1. Need-based scholarships and grants are offered, including the Nebraska Promise for Nebraska residents, a tuition program for students with family income of $65,000 or less or are Pell Grant-eligible. Academic scholarships are also provided for Nebraska residents who apply by February and out-of-state students who apply by May 1. Admitted students are notified of scholarships and financial aid on a rolling basis beginning in February. In addition, Federal Direct Loans and Federal Work-Study are available.
Students are reviewed for academic scholarships through the admissions application and can maximize consideration for departmental scholarships as well as leadership and service scholarships through the supplemental Scholarship Application. These scholarships are awarded based on a holistic review, meaning academic performance is only one of many aspects of consideration. Nebraska is test preferred for scholarship consideration. The University of Nebraska—Lincoln consists of three distinct campuses, each with its own unique character and academic offerings. Close in proximity, students can travel between the campuses via bus, bike or on foot. City Campus interconnects with Downtown Lincoln, making it easy to go from class to a movie theater, local restaurant or music venue. East Campus, situated just east of Downtown Lincoln, is a picturesque campus with research centers and laboratories dedicated to agriculture and veterinary sciences. Nebraska Innovation Campus is designed to facilitate new and in-depth partnerships between the University of Nebraska and private sector businesses through access to research faculty, facilities and students. Innovation Campus is home to Nebraska Innovation Studio, one of the nation's top makerspaces, as well as the Scarlet Hotel, state-of-the-art Greenhouse Innovation Center and 178,000 square foot Food Innovation Center.
Kiewit Hall
Kiewit Hall is an 182,000 square foot academic hub for engineering education and houses the College of Engineering's Lincoln-based construction management program. The building features flexible state-of-the-art classrooms, teaching labs, Engineering Student Services, design/build spaces for student organizations and a large outdoor quad/promenade for the university community. Kiewit Hall was designed to prepare the next generation of engineers for success.
Howard L. Hawks Hall
The 240,000-square-foot Howard L. Hawks Hall serves as a space to inspire and enable you to collaborate, innovate and congregate. The $84 million, privately funded building features high-tech classrooms designed for collaboration and hands-on learning. Beyond classrooms, the building is a hub for studying, socializing, connecting with faculty and grabbing a bite to eat.
Beadle Center
The Beadle Center for Genetics and Biomaterials Research is a center for learning and research. This 140,000 square foot facility continues to maintain the latest in technology for both teaching and research. Located on the Eastern edge of City Campus, the building houses a variety of research and teaching spaces to perform leading studies in exciting arenas in a safe environment. The building houses the Center for Biotechnology, Department of Biochemistry, School of Biological Sciences, Center for Plant Science Innovation, Redox Biology Center and the Microbiology Undergraduate Program.

The Nebraska Center for Entrepreneurship helps you discover which resources are right for you. Whether you have an idea or your business is well underway, the Center for Entrepreneurship offers mentorships, workshops, competitions and funding opportunities to help you grow. The Center for Entrepreneurship serves over 1,500 students through entrepreneurship courses and resources provided by over 150 mentors paying it forward in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Clifton Builders Program
The Clifton Builders Program at the University of Nebraska—Lincoln is a specialized leadership and entrepreneurship development initiative within the Clifton Strengths Institute. Nebraska is the "smallest Big Ten public school," so students say their "beautiful campus" is "great if you're looking for a prestigious school, but a bit smaller." Students overwhelmingly name the Division I football team ("Go Big Red!") as being a generator of school spirit that spreads into the "incredible college town." "Since this is the only football team here in Nebraska, many people are very excited for game days here in Lincoln," one student reports. Intramural sports are also popular: "there are always pick-up games of soccer, ultimate Frisbee, football" and so on "on the outdoor Astroturf fields, as well as the indoor practice facilities," which includes an "indoor football field for students."
About "20 percent of students are in Greek life," and "the whole campus is always attending their philanthropy events." And with over 500 clubs, students need not leave campus to pack their schedules with activities outside of studying. However, campus is right next to downtown, so the campus isn't isolated; students are "part of the Lincoln community," which offers a "small town feel with big town amenities." A brief description of offerings:
Trained mental health professionals serving as ?Counselors-in-Residence? are available to meet with students close to home in the residence halls. Services offered include: ? One-on-one appointments ? Drop-in consultations ? Group sessions. ? Interactions through hall programs While located in a designated hall, counselors can meet students from any residence hall. There is no cost and no session limit. Counselors-in-Residence are located in Harper Dining, Abel/Sandoz Welcome Center and Eastside Suites. Common session topics include homesickness, school stress, depression, anxiety, coping skills, developing healthy habits, family struggles, roommate and relationship problems, trauma, stress and grief/loss. All counselors are second-year graduate students in the UNL Marriage and Family Therapy program. Every student?s experience is different. At Nebraska, we are committed to creating meaningful learning experiences that help students develop, grow and thrive. The Nebraska Residential Experience is the guiding residential program implemented in the halls by University Housing Residence Life staff. Our goal is to develop engaging communities where residents can have transformational experiences, connect to campus resources, and create relationships. The NRE aligns with the larger Student Affairs Curricular Approach, meaning that staff across the entire university are working together toward common goals and outcomes.
