Career Experience
I've tutored many students over the years, both in person and online. My in person tutoring has been both at a four year university and within a community college. I've also just finished my master's degree and am actively looking to begin teaching community college English, specifically basic writing and first year composition.
I Love Tutoring Because
students sometimes get lost in the fray of the classroom and stress of all the juggling priorities in life. This is especially true of new students to college. Alongside trying to grasp the concepts in their courses, a lot of them are having to figure out how to manage their time more wisely and deal with the various demands on them. Tutoring is a time they can set aside all those stressors and focus on one subject, one project, and receive individualized attention to what they struggle with the most. I truly love tutoring because students who are struggling in class can seek out that personalized support they need, while simultaneously being comfortable in a private one-on-one setting, so they can be fully authentic and engaged in their learning. The personalized nature of tutoring is what makes it a wonderful enhancement to the classroom learning they are already receiving.
