Career Experience

I've worked in both the public and private sectors over the course of my career, having started out with a company providing electronic home monitoring services to probation clients (I was essentially a private probation officer). I then moved on to more analytically focused work, first as a financial intelligence analyst with a large money service business (think money orders and wire transfers) where I conducted anti-money laundering and terrorist financing investigations, then to a large retailer where I spent time developing risk models for their corporate security team and also provided intelligence support to special investigators in the field. I'm currently a senior research analyst with a law enforcement agency where I provide crime and intelligence analysis.

I Love Tutoring Because

I get a lot of satisfaction seeing someone have the "ah ha!" moment when it finally clicks and they get it. Being able to help guide them to that moment is what I enjoy doing. I've been helped quite a bit along my academic and professional career, and I like to pay it forward, so to speak.

My initially tutor was ending his shift in two minutes and transferred me to another person. The message was given to me that i was only allowed so many transfers. I was upset that it was telling me this when it was not my doing to transfer. The system should not have given me an individual that was ending his shift and transferring me. I understand if i requested the transfer but this is my first time and i am nervous enough I dont need a person telling me he can not find the time to help me and then the system telling me I only have so many transfers as if i would request to transfer as it is. The second tutor was very thoughtful and Helpful!!! He was great!

The audio function was not working on the tutor end and that is terribly annoying. Verbal communication would have made this much much simpler and taken less time. The screen was slightly blurry and a little difficult to watch the steps.

I don't use the service enough to impact my grades or my confidence. The sessions are too short and not having a tutor who knows what level you're own is not a confidence builder. A profile should be required for those of us who know ahead of time they will struggle in a particular area might be beneficial.
